ACS in Mining – Accurate And Cost Effective Position MeasurementFor pipe-laying or construction purposes, bore hole machines are used to drill holes in the ground. In mining, for blast mine placement, where angle-specific drilling of holes in tunnel walls has to be carried out, blast hole drillers are commonly used.
Both machines have one thing in common, they are both highly prone to shock and vibration. Our POSITAL ACS inclinometers are therefore designed with that in mind – with completely molded housing, and to be highly resistant to intense shock and vibration. In fact, they are able to withstand up to 100g shock and 10g vibration. A high protection class of IP69K ensures their ruggedness and increases their lifetime. Measurement Modes / Interface OptionsACS inclinometers are not only hardy; they are also accurate, efficient and versatile. The dual-axis ACS80 inclinometer checks for stable position of the drilling arm whereas the single-axis ACS360 helps in accurate positioning of the drill angle. ACS also boasts a fast settling time, enabling almost immediate feedback to be provided to the machine operator for better positioning.
With additional features like Preset(Reset), programmable software filters and resolution of up to 0.01°, ACS is a viable package offering technology, performance, versatility and cost advantages. It provides a cost-effective solution, and at 0.1º, boasts a higher accuracy compared to the conventionally used potentiometer- or pendulum-based inclinometers. This is thanks to the active temperature compensation, a very special feature of ACS which has been tested and proven to increase the accuracy manifold, even under varying environments.
Replacement of PotentiometersThe advanced MEMS technology-based capacitance measurement is utilized in the ACS inclinometers, which also come with multiple interface options – Analog (Current or Voltage), SSI, CANopen, and DeviceNet.
